I have an email marketing confession to make...
I’m an email list addict. I subscribe to every email list I can find. Why, you ask? It’s simple - I’m curious about what makes me open an email instead of deleting it.
What I’ve learned (besides the fact that there are a lot of junkie emails out there) is this: the emails I open are the ones that spark my emotional curiosity.
Emotional curiosity is the urge to explore or engage with something because it stirs up feelings like intrigue, excitement, joy or even concern. It’s that moment when something clicks with you on a personal level, making you want to learn more or dig deeper.
For example, a subject line like "I have an email marketing confession to make..." grabs your attention by hinting at something personal or intriguing, sparking your curiosity. Similarly, content that touches on your fears, dreams or values often draws you in.
But be careful, because it needs to resonate with your audience on some level; if it doesn't, then it can sound spammy.
It’s a powerful way to capture attention and keep people engaged!
